To start off, my daughter is officially a Sailor. She graduated Navy Bootcamp on Friday. I'm so proud of her.
We flew out of Boston on Thursday afternoon to O'Hare. Friday we got up at 5:30a to get to Great Lakes by 8:00am. Graduation started at 9 sharp. My girl was carrying one of the flags for her division so she was right in front. We could watch her the entire time and she could see us. It took all we had, expecially my Beloved, to keep in our seats. She looked absolutely beautiful in her dress whites. The graduation was a spectacular ceremony (the military really knows how to do it up).
We found out that she had a full 72 hour liberty so we changed out flight from Sunday evening to Tuesday morning. We had 3.5 wonderful days with her. She is still in Great Lakes for the next month or so. We visited Chicago and did some girly stuff (shopping and a manicure).
I miss her but at least now she can call us and we can talk to her. Oh, and couldn't resist this outfit at Build a Bear
OK...so today was the day from Hell. Started out with my coffee not brewing, and anyone who knows me knows I need my coffee in the morning. Then, we're short handed at work and it was mental. I'm doing 2 people's work. Then there's a problem with a major bill at home.
SCREAM!!!!
Retail therapy time...bought a new gown and outer dress I found on Museum Replica's but haven't wanted to spend the money...turns out they are 1/2 price each. My shopping Mojo is still working! (I'm turning into a garb junkie)
She said that it "wasn't as bad as I thought it would be". She seems to be adjusting OK. Our main concern was that she would be absolutely misserable. Thankfully, from the tone of her letter, she isn't.
